    Other announcements from WWDC 2009

    There were a couple of other items made during the WWDC keynote that went a bit under the radar.

    First, iTunes U content (both public and private) are now directly accessible via the iTunes.app on both iPhone (wi-fi & cell) and iPod Touch (wi-fi). Private content will support authentication as well.

    Secondly, (coming soon), an brand new Mobile Me iDisk app for iPhone & iPod Touch! Allows access to documents stored on your iDisk. Also allows you to share your iDisk files with other users (emails them a download link to large files).     Finally, major announcements to Snow Leopard Server. The updated features are listed here <http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/features/>

    Updated features (since Snow Leopard Server was last announced):

    1. iCal Server2
    New web interface
    Push notifications of new meeting invitations
    Secure calendar access for iPhone over the air; no syncing required
    Interoperability via; CalDAV, iMIP & iTIP
    No Client-access licenses, unlimited users by default
    Source code available via macosforge.org

    2. Podcast Producer 2
    MUCH easier setup via Server Admin, new defaults for either single server setup or cluster
    Podcast Capture.app now supports dual-source video input (ei: screen running presentation & video of speaker). Those will be composited together.
    Ability to convert a presentation or other documents into a podcast video file
    Web podcast capture feature to remotely capture audo and/or video into Podcast Producer system
    Brand new Podcast Composer application to created automated workflows
    New archiving of podcast content to 'Podcast Library' for long-term storage

    3. Wiki Server 2
    'Quick Look' for uploaded documents (just like in Leopard client). Review a file before download.
    Support for Safari on iPhone/iPod Touch; no server re-configuration necessary

    4. Mobile Access Server
    Secure access to server resources without the need for VPN through a firewall (uses TLS)
    Integrates into pre-existing directory service infrastructure for single-sign on
    No Client-access licenses, unlimited users by default

    5. iChat Server
    New support for Active Directory integration, plus single-sign on
    Persistent chat rooms

    6. Mail Server
    New back-end mail engine
    Support for vacation messages and server-side rules
    Push email

    7. Web Server
    Built on Apache 2.2
    All components for 'Web 2.0' deployments built-in (see above link for full list)
    Full support for HTTP live video streaming via QuickTime X

    8. Network Disk Imaging
    Support for; Netboot, NetInstall & *new* NetRestore

    9. iPhone & iPod Touch Configuration Server
    Create configuration profiles that can be distributed via Snow Leopard Server to your organization/department
