Are you an LAUSD student looking to connect your Apple iPod Touch or iPhone to your MyMail account? This document will walk you through the steps needed to ensure a positive experience with your device.
When connecting to MyMail from multiple devices it is recommended to utilize the IMAP protocol. It will allow you to synchronize all of your messages and mailboxes across your computer(s), devices, and webmail automatically.
To enable IMAP:
- Click on your MyMail settings.
- Click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab
- Choose to enable IMAP as in the picture below

To configure your iPod Touch or iPhone:
- Open the Settings App
- Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
- Select "Add Account..."
- Select "Other"
- Choose "Add Mail Account"
- Enter your full name in the field "Name"
- Enter your full MyMail e-mail address in the field "Address" (i.e. user@mymail.lausd.net )
- Enter your password in the field "Password"
- Enter any description of your choosing in the field "Description"
- Click Save in the "Save" button in the top right hand corner. Your device will take a moment and provide you to input additional information for your MyMail account
Incoming Mail Server Settings:
- Enter imap.gmail.com in the field "Host Name"
- Enter your full MyMail e-mail address in the field "User Name" (i.e. user@mymail.lausd.net )
- Your Password should be already inputed as 8 dots
Outgoing Mail Server Settings:
- Enter smtp.gmail.com in the field "Host Name"
- Enter your full MyMail e-mail address in the field "User Name" (i.e. user@mymail.lausd.net )
- Enter your password in the field "Password"
Your setting should look like this:
When you have completed entering all the settings click the "Save" button in the top right hand corner. If completed correctly, your device should now be able to send and receive your e-mail with your MyMail account. For the security conscious, your iPod Touch or iPhone should automatically choose to utilize SSL for both IMAP (Port 993) and SMTP (Port 587). You can consult the advanced settings for your MyMail account to verify the SSL settings.
